Athletes are given a unique race number which is put on their arm or leg and is used to track them during the swimming competition. Players have to go for open water swim in a full triathlon but in a sprint triathlon they are usually required to compete in a swimming pool as it is shorter distance event. In some sprint triathlons players are provided with change tents where they can put on dry clothes ideal for the next phase of cycling. You should know whether this facility is available or not and plan your race accordingly.

ii) Cycling
The standard distance that needs to be covered by cyclists in a sprint triathlon is 2 Km. Athletes are provided with a race number which would be used in this phase as well as the next phase of running. You should always follow the directions provided by the volunteers as you get ready to start the race. This is important to avoid any accidents on the race track and also to help you avoid getting disqualified from the event.

iii) Running
The last phase of a sprint triathlon is a run which is usually for a distance of 5000 Mts. This is the last phase of a sprint triathlon and it is important to listen to and follow what the volunteers have to say. You should keep wearing your bike helmet till you reach the area where you would be starting your run. This is probably the toughest phase and it will test your fitness levels as you have completed the first two phases and won’t have a lot of energy left.

Training is important to be successful with a sprint triathlon but you don’t need to work very hard to be successful as this is a short distance event and even athletes with less experience can be successful. This is an ideal training ground for athletes who want to compete in a full triathlon as this is a shorter version and you can improve your skills and experience with it. Athletes need to work on improving their endurance levels so that they can compete well in all the three phases of a sprint triathlon. You should pay special attention to your diet so that you get proper nutrition which is vital to compete well in a sprint triathlon.
