Carpet cleaning has never been an adorable chore to me, and every time I did it, I would put on my country music to soothe me on as I did this boring chore. This particular day was different however; I had this feeling buzzing inside me, as if everything was going to be interesting this day.
That was the very moment when my iron-man team arrived-I was frozen in my tracks as I had to drop everything I was doing to join them in training for the upcoming triathlon marathon.
I had to get ready for the multistage competition which is very vigorous and very involving.
Now, you might be wondering what triathlon competition is, stay put as I explain to you exactly what it is.
Triathlon is a multistage competition which features a different discipline in every stage. These disciplines are continues and this means there is no break after any stage, only at the end of the competition.
The three stages include swimming, cycling and running which are in a successive and sequential form over varying distances. The most internationally recognized include;
A swimming distance of 750 meters (0.47 miles), a 20 kilometer cycling (12-mile) and a 5 kilometer run (3.1 mile), the competitions are open for both men and women and is classified as an endurance sport and is known as a sprint distance.
Intermediate or Standard distance combines a 1.5 kilometer swim, a 40 kilometer cycling and finally a 10 kilometer run. This endurance competition is referred to as the Olympic distance triathlon.
The Long Course Triathlon combines a 1.9 kilometer swimming distance followed by a 90 kilometer cycling distance and a 21.1 kilometer running distance. This triathlon is commonly referred to as half marathon.
The Ultra- distance is the most common one and stretches over a distance of 226.2 kilometers equivalent to 140.6 miles. It combines a swimming distance of 3.8 kilometers and a 180.2 cycling distance and a 42.2 kilometer running distance. Normally, an average person takes 17 hours to complete this race-if he or she manages to endure that long.
In every triathlon, there is a transition area where the athletes change the gear for different levels of the race. These are the areas where transition from one stage of race to the next takes place.
This sport focuses on one main area of the athlete-your endurance. The longer you can endure, the more you are fit for taking part in this race. Before I forget, I have to get going for I have to train for my iron-man triathlon, good luck.
